"You know, theoretically, a person COULD do it..."

"We've tried. We determined that even with every tech foci in the world, we'd still be unable to get teleportation tech to work within the next three decades. But the kitri already have it. They wanted me to reverse engineer the kitri teleporters, if they ever managed to get one. They must have found one, and started their own techs on it."

"Or worked off a different idea for teleportation besides the usual ones..."

"They've tried it. I pretty sure. They tried some strange things."

"Tesla could do it..."

"Tesla died, hundreds of years ago. The death foci tried to find him, but he died before magic was discovered. Can't bring someone back from before then."

((She's right, in this case. Human technology, while good, is still not even on the same level as kitri. Although, with access to kitri tech... That could change.))

"True, but his notes, and his intellect survived," he said, obviously hiding something. "Plus, he is STILL the greatest inventor of all time, predicting things that wouldn't happen for centuries."

"Look. I was in there. I read all their files. They even had me try out some of their failed attempts. We simply don't have the right technology."

"That's because you're looking in the wrong places," he said simply, as though it explained everything.

She shakes her head. "Even with powerful energy foci, direct energy transfers didn't work. Mystic foci couldn't hold the spell without dying, light foci couldn't go fast enough. Techs can't create anything advanced enough. Humans simply can't do it on their own."

Earandil shakes his head, sighing. "You miss the point. Okay, look, magick is supposedly all over the earth, correct?"

"Since the Erlin Formula was released into the atmosphere, yes."

"Not true. Not everything is infused with magick. And besides, wireless direct energy transference HAS occurred. It was just several hundred years ago."

"I know that. What I meant is even with the direct energy transferance, the energy foci that tried to use it to teleport died in the process. And the Erlin formula does cover the entire world..."

"That's because it requires a machine built WITHOUT magick. Wardenclyffe holds the key."

((You do realize that teleportation is not achievable by human efforts in Ceria? That is one of the limits. Humans simply cannot make their own teleportation. Can't. Unable. Impossible.))

"Even if it was completely sealed, any exposure to the outside would let the Erlin formula in..."

Earandil rolls his eyes. "Never mind, you clearly have your head up your butt on this subject. I'm not going to waste my time proving your idiotic notions of the world. I'm going back to reading my books." Earandil opens an ancient looking leather book, mumbling as he reads it.

She sighs, and returns to information hunting. "Hmm... Oh. That's bad. Very bad." She says, looking just a little bit frightened.

Earan glances up from his book, looking tired.

"The kitri usually have ships in orbit... But this one in the atmosphere... Damn! How has no one seen this thing?!" She holds out a hand and a hologram of the earth appears. "I was checking a couple of satellite feeds. This is what I found..." she points her other hand to an ocean, and an image of a large, insectlike mass of metal enlarges. "A kitri ship. In our atmosphere. That could be very, very bad."

"Looks like fun. Wake me when they invade," Earan says, closing his eyes and leaning back.

She sighs. "That's not the sign of an invasion. They don't bring ships down here to do that, they just teleport directly in. This could mean they're trying something new..."

He blinks open an eye. "So, what does that mean? I should get the Shield online?"

"It means that it should be destroyed. Before they do whatever they're going to do. But... That's too far from here for us to get to anytime soon. I'll put an anonymous call through our government, not too high up, or it'll be ignored as craziness. A couple of screens swapping should do the trick."

"Uh-huh. While you do THAT, I'm telling my company to ready the Shield," Earan says, getting out of the vehicle to go to his own.
