Tome 1: The council's Return- OLDOLDOLD

"Maze!" Kat yells. Kat is a very quiet individual. Maze can barely hear him yell.

"You're getting out of bed, now..." Maze says with increasing impatience.

"Yes sir!" He says quietly. He sleeps dressed already.

He grasps his shoulder and teleports to Oakvale and waits for the morning bell to ring.

Kali's already awake- and has spent the past few hours setting up a flour trap over the cullis gate. She grins a little when the new arrivals set it off, giggling from her perch.

Maze teleports to the side of the culis gate, a few feet away, he sees someone's been busy.

Kat pukes his guts out.

"I thought you'd have a stronger stomach than that..."

"S-sorry sir." Kat says, barely audible now that he's not yelling.

"Once we're at the guild, I'm taking you to a language class..."

"I can speak just fine." Kat says, loudly. "I just don't like to." He says, back at his normal volume.

"Alright then, why don't you like to?"

"Because if I do yell, people listen. Speak softly, and carry a big stick, as some say." he says softly.

Sabre slowly gets up, a rather large bruise under his nose. His cold seems to have gone away, and he smiles before his father picks him up and carries him to Maze, tossing him down in front of him. Sabre's mother follows, catching up after he is tossed down.

Kat stares.

Maze reaches out his hand to Sabre. "Give me your hand."

Sabre frowns at the creepy gentleman, but gives him his hand with conviction.

"No need to be frightened, where are the others?"

"Didn't say I was frightened. Just wondering what caused you to ask." His father stares. This is the most direct and courageous Sabre had ever been. Perhaps there was hope for the boy yet...

"Your time with the guild is over, and it's his turn now." Maze directs his attention to Sabre's Father.

Kat looks at them.

"Aye. But the wee milksop would ne'er get to the guild."
"Dad..."

"Your son has made it in, and not by sheer luck, he has great potential."

Cumulus. Laughs. A lot.

"Honey..." Sabre's mother, a relatively powerful sorceress, glares and drags her husband away, still laughing.

Kat looks over at Sabre. "Hello. My name is Katherine. Call me Kat. Please." He says softly, very nearly inaudible.
