A war torn world- Day 4

"TELL HER..." Nova's master started, and then went on with a list of obscenities and demonic curses (actual curses). Nova's face almost went white.

"He didn't say anything. He must not have found your comment worth his time." Nova lied.

"PANSY!" The voice yelled.

"I can tell when I'm being lied to, you know. What, did the little kitty scare him?" She taunted, laughing.

"Maybe he's in a corner pissing his pants in fear" *Starts laughing*

"Hmmm.. Or maybe I should stop teasing him. I know what he probably said, anyway. He probably cussed at me. Most do. Tell me, O great and powerful demon, what did you say?" She asked sarcastically.

"Your insults mean nothing to him. You are NOTHING to him." Nova said, without a hint of anger. "I chose to keep what he said to myself, Shali. If you really want to talk to him..." Nova began.

"What would I have to do?" Shali asked, suspecting.

"Well..." Nova said. "Meeting my master face to face requires one to give up certain...freedoms. But, if your words mean so much, that you must confront him..." Nova suggested, shrugging.

((He's not being "evil" as much as a smart ***.))

"Tell me what they are. Freedom of personal space, freedom of aging, and freedom of having my thoughts to myself?"

"Your eternal soul?"

Nova rolled his eyes a little, realizing Shali didn't get the joke...or she was interested. The second possibility popped into his head, and he grinned. "It's a trade off, but only the last two, though I would never consider freedom from aging a bad thing." Nova said.

Nova lolled his head towards Trent, annoyed. "No, you keep your soul...sort of." He said actually seriously for being annoyed.

"I'll consider it, IF he lets me age for at least a week." Shali said, smiling.

"Technically, you CAN age." Nova smirked.

*Damn her soul? Peeshaw. The only thing Shali should worry about, and this is a fair warning to her, is that Nova would be her supervising superior. If that isn't her cup of tea...well...

*Nova would argue that!))

"Hmm... Permanent teen and being able to hear the demon, along with being stronger or being able to age? I'm cool with it, as long as I don't have to kill dragons." Shali said, smiling.
((Yes, I'm evil. It's me we're talking about. I'd never pass up that importunity. A chance to annoy a demon forever? YAY!))

Nova's eyes suddenly widened, and he practically choked on surprise. "Wait...really?" Nova asked. "Well..." He started, trying to retain his past cool. "You won't have to kill dragons, I suppose, but you can't stop me form doing it, IF necessary understood?" Nova told her. "Now, are you absolutely sure?" Nova asked, in all seriousness.

"WELL...THIS IS UNEXPECTED. I SUPPOSE WE COULD USE A SERVANT FROM AN ALMOST EXTINCT SPECIES. AFTER ALL, SHE'LL RETAIN HER POWERS. THIS COULD BENEFIT US." The voice said, almost cackling.

"Yes master, it could." Nova said aloud.

((Alright, if you wanna Shali, say so. Also, reminder, you can't betray HIM if you sign. This isn't like Naruto.))

"Yeah, yeah. I'm fine with it. It gets boring here, so why shouldn't I?" Shali said, bored. "I mean, I'm almost extinct... There aren't many of us left. Anyway, the guards are boring. So why wouldn't I?"

Nova was still appalled with Shali's behavior. He made the pact to save friends, and was almost dead. Shali was just doing it for greed. Never the less, his master already gave him the go. Nova held out his hand, and a scroll appeared in his hand. He unraveled it, and revealed the large symbol in it. It was a large circle, with miniature circles within eat, each containing a rune mark, and finally, in the center, two x's who touched at two ends, with a dot placed in the middle of the diamond the connection made, making it appear to be an eye. Nova then silently handed Shali his knife. "Now, I suggest you go for the stomach, seeing as it doesn't cause death immediately. Oh, and try to draw it right the first time, kay?" Nova advised. He handed her the scroll, and stepped back a step. He hadn't explained exactly what to do, but she would probably get it.

((To perform this pact, one must be near death. Shali must stab herself, and draw the symbol in her blood. When she dies, she will meet HIM, and she will be granted powers...if found worthy (no worries there). Then, she will be reborn, as something...new. Also, may I still control HIS voice, as you do your dragons?))

((Yes, and Shali's not doing it out of greed, mostly anger. Anger at the world. The demon thing feeds off sin, and Shali thinks the world was going down hill a 100 years ago. She thinks by ridding it of major sin, she'll be doing the world a service.)) Shali looked at the knife, terrified. "So you're saying I basically cause myself unimaginable pain, and try to draw a symbol? While all the while wanting to throw up because of pain, and then see a demon, causing myself more pain? You expect me to wake up after this HOW?" She stared at the knife. "This doesn't seem like all that good an idea any more... Still.. maybe.. It would stop my race from dying out... and then my father's death to keep me alive wouldn't ever be in vain..." She mumbled, fighting the urge to throw up.

"No don't do it there is another way"

((Nooo Shali. Don't make your character do this!!! ))

"Actually, after the adrenaline and shock kick in, you won't feel it as much." Nova said, attempting to comfort her. "And, no, seeing my master doesn't cause pain...unless he's eating you, which that seal prevents anyways, during the pact." Nova said to her. "Is a bit of humanly pain, for a life of power...an endless life of power, such a big deal?" Nova asked, seriously. "You would get to travel to worlds unimaginable, and meet many a people. It's not like he is a puppet master, he just occasionally has a job to be done. Other than that, feel free to use your powers for whatever you wish. In fact, he encourages that." Nova said.

"And, of course, he wouldn't get it." Nova said, motioning to Trent. "He seems to think life...no, scratch that, the world, is worth living in how it is." Nova said. "Of course he would. He's one of the privileged BORN with power. How could he understand our, the humble people's, pain?"

"The pain from seeing him would have to do with my race." Shali puked in an alley way. She came back. "It is a way to save my race.. Remove sin from this world... but it would hurt like hell... Msybe.." She said, still staring at the knife.

Nova stood there quite calmly, awaiting Shali to do it. His circumstances were MUCH different, so he understood. He was shot, and already dying, so it wasn't that big a deal for him.

"If I can do it, I will. For the good of the Neraphrim race, I'll do it." Shali said, the last bit to convince herself. Avelion was of somewhere, so she was hoping someone would talk her out of it.

"There is another way to save your race. I know of it."

"Me and Avelion are the last of us left, and we're half brother and half sister. there isn't." Shali said, gripping the knife. "There's no other way to do this?" She asked Nova.
