Twilight of the Gods

The fear aura decreases slightly, but the effort of the magic seems to have increased. The relief, however slight, brings the group back to their senses, allowing them a little more functionality in the coming battle. The shadowy figure lets out a surprised snort, obviously confused as to why the group has not run off in terror. The beast takes a slight step back, before regaining its confidence and stepping out of the jungle. The massive monster carries the stench of decay and death, and it carries a massive maul of wood in its hand. The creature itself seems unhealthy, and there are places where its own flesh has rotted away. Its small, glaring red eyes fixate on the group, and it lets out a deep, menacing growl, as it slowly, ponderously moves forward.

Sera thrusts her spear forward, drawing a line on the ground between them and the monster. "Stay back!" She yells at it. The line glows faintly red, as if the spear was leaving behind a trail of light.

The creature stops for a moment, apparently stymied, then begins shaking its club, letting out a screeching wail. A black cloud appears, and begins misting what appears to be blood at the line. Sparks fly as the two forces meet, but it is easy to see the cloud is winning, slowly but surely.

She shoves the point of her spear into the ground and chants. "Atum Ra Anem Ra Lest Set. Atum Ra Anem Ra Lest Set." She repeats this and an orange glow appears around the others.

"At least it can be slowed." Sera nods, and raises the spear into a ready position.

The beast lumbers forward and begins bashing at the shields with its club, howling in fury. Spiderweb cracks appear after the third such swing, and the strain of the work slowly becomes much more pronounced.

As the shields break, they burst into fragments of light, almost like mirrors. Sera thrusts forwards with her spear, aiming for the beast's kneecaps. Or whatever might be in that general area.

There is a horrifying crunch noise that makes even the Guide wince as her spear strikes the unprotected, exposed knee caps. The beast lets out a scream of rage, but it continues to limp toward the group, seemingly undeterred.

She then turns the spear, striking with the heavy blunt end for whatever part happens to be closest. The tip of the spear is glowing red, but not hot.

The beast's guts split a little, and maggots fall out into wriggling white piles as the stench grows even worse. Bran lets out a roar and swings his axe into the beast's injured leg, the axe sticking into the bone and forcing him to release it, barely managing to dive out of the way of the beast's brutal swing of the club.

"Atum!" Sera yells, slashing down with the sharp and pointy end of the spear. "Digusting beast!"

Its stomach splits open, a horrendous stench emanating from it, and chinks of rotting meat, maggots, and other highly disturbing things come tumbling out. At the same moment, Bran rolls, tearing his axe out of the beast's leg with a grunt. The creature topples to one leg, screaming in rage.

"Yeg!" Sera cries out in disgust. She then looks for and aims at the head with her spear, and stabs out.

She hits it in the eye, puncturing it and sending new scream pouring out of its mouth. It staggers slowly, then falls upon its face, seemingly unable to stand.

She looks at it, staying out of it's reach. "What.. IS it?"

"It's disgusting." She aims for the head again. "How hard do I have to stab it to make it die?"

"Got it." Sera gives a rather vicious slash at the neck.

Green fluid spurts out, splattering onto her in a disgusting wave of foul smelling fluid.

"GARG!" Sera yells. She runs over to the water to get it off. "DISGUSTING BEAST!"

Bran finishes hacking off the head, getting splattered himself, yet taking care of business before rinsing himself off, digging out a nice deep hole and burying the head in it.
