"A bio-electro magnetic pusle destroys any organism with an central nervous system that generates neural impulses. The pulse locks onto and destroys anything that gives off energy from the impulses (which everyone does) and shuts it down. The pills that Violet and Shali took lowered the rate of the neural impulses to a point where their still alive but they won't be targeted by the pulse."
