Every character, upon awakening in the new land, discovers that they have a gem, tightly clasped in their hands, and that they have some innate knowledge of these gems. Just holding the gem brings them a sense of comfort and peace- if it's their own gem. Holding anyone elses gem, however, does nothing- their gems won't work for you.
Your gem, you know, will allow you to create... Well, pretty much anything! In a short area, that is. Their range seems to extend about twenty feet, though you do not know this innately, working on your own, but it seems likely that if you work together, you can create much more.
Your gems make you feel like you should stay with the others. Holding them, you know that this world is your canvas, that you are meant to build it- together.
You know that your gems, somehow, are suppressing your memories of your former life- leaving only the knowledge of who you are, not what you've lived. For some reason- likely because of the gems- you don't really seem to mind.
Your gem glows softly in your hand, like a firefly, a soft, pulsating light. You know that if you drop it, it will simply return to you when you're not paying attention.
Using your gem, especially on your own, seems to take energy out of you- not much, for little things like books or ground, but things like living beings, buildings, and complex objects take much more out of you.
You know that there is more that you do not know about your gem, like where it came from or why it chose you- but you also know that you will only learn through trial and error.
