| Okay, I'm going to do a full combat round with two combatants to show how it works. Combatant 1 has a 9mm dexterity of 5 and firearms of 5
Combatant 2 has a flak jacket, Dexterity of 5 and dodge of 5

| Combatant 1 fires his 9mm at combatant 2. (dex 5 firearms 5) ((Make sure to put your dexterity in and firearms skill when you attack or you won't get their bonus))
((Roll D20 + any bonuses from the gun, in this case a 9mm gives no bonus so just a D20)) | |

Combatant 2 quickly dives for cover trying to dodge the attack. (Dodge 5 Dexterity 5)
((Dodging works just the same as attacking)) | |

| ((Rolled a 10, plus dexterity and dodge score making it 20. Since combatant 2 did some attempt to roleplay his dodge he gets a +1 roleplay bonus making his total a 21 however still not good enough to successfully dodge))
Combatant 1 hits combatant 2 and rolls damage ((9mm pistol does 1D4 damage)) | |
